"A moment’s insight is sometimes worth a life’s experience”

-Oliver Wendel Holmes Sr.

This post will hopefully point you home to your own ‘aha!” moment.

This post will hopefully point you home to your own ‘aha!” moment.

There are moments that mark your life forever. You know, those “Aha” moments, or experiences of such oneness, and electric aliveness that you can’t search for. Rather they find you, landing square in the foreground of your mind’s theatre mid-play, when your soul stumbles onto the right path.

For some, the only remarkable moment so far has been a funeral, a loss, a divorce. Sometimes moments of life-altering insight come in the form of a sentence in a book or read on a blog.

Yes, you can be trotting along your path then out of nowhere, a rare moment arrives when knowledge transmutes instantly into the core of your being and finds a home.

I would like to share one such moment “aha!” of mine with you as a journaling exercise we can do together. It’s inspired by The Morning Pages from the Artist's Way - a creative living guide from the 1990s. Today I’d like to introduce you to my practice of writing daily ‘he(art) pages’.

Scroll down for the journaling prompts.

That simply means writing three pages in the form of stream of conscious writing every single damn morning. Three pages of whatever comes to your mind, complaints and icky feelings are encourages. Scribbling outside the lines, sketching out the weird creatures of your dreams is also highly encouraged.

It’s like a shower for you mind. If you don’t recognize the dirt, locate it on your skin and scrub it off then the clean slate vibe never arrives!

Ya feels me? I sooo want that daily freshness for you.

Writing three he(art) pages works. I know because it’s changed me in profound ways. It’s transformed other’s lives, from artists and self-declared “non artists” alike. I think the power of this daily journaling concept boils down to something simple. It is the idea that making one tiny move a day can crack open an entire world of skill, talent and vision waiting inside you. This chapter is about an easy method to spark something. It’s the crack that will allow a whole new universe and mindset to leak in, light a light beam in a dusty old attic. But first the seeds we’ll plant needed space to sprout and you’ll have to overcome more than a molehill of self doubt along the way to get to your best self, your bohemian self. The success stories are truly transformative.

After adapting this daily creative act of journaling three pages, a 50 year old billionaire sets aside his doubt, discovers his passion for tango dancing and meets his 2nd wife. A Midwestern American farmers’ wife decided to take up Mexican cooking classes and write bestselling cookbooks. Inner city moms leave gas pump day jobs to launch successful crochet baby blanket businesses. They’re all true stories. All it takes is three pages off your mind and onto paper every damn morning. You get the idea. Are you ready?

Information by itself isn’t valuable. It’s only the first step.
— Tony Robbins

This daily practice has confirmed for me what I’ve always believed–that creativity is our birthright and everyone is an artist just waiting to be uncovered. The work, the action is required. I feel that the power of morning journaling brings us one step out of the world of ‘one day”, overcoming resistance, bringing us closer towards clarity of our true nature. At the heart of it lies our creative blueprint, and a life of natural radiance deliciously unfolding.

Not sure where to start….? Let’s crack open your heart with some prompts.
