Emily Bauman is a creative-catalyst, author, and fashion designer. She painted under the name Amanacer for over 15 years. Amanacer means “rebirth” or “soul who loves to be reborn” in Spanish. Emily was raised in Haiti from ages seven to 17 by Canadian parents. She's a lover of salt water, ceremonial cacao, and laughing so hard it kinda hurts. Wanna know her full backstory? Click here.

For ten years, Emily lead two lives split along her divergent right and left brains. On the one hand, from 2009 to 2019 her creative career flourished as a worldwide exhibiting painter. She had successful art shows in Canada, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, New York and South Korea. Then in parallel Emily also worked full time in the humanitarian sector. She raised over 50 million dollars in grants for global non-profits and the United Nations through the vehicle of high-frequency communication. For example, 2017 found her in Haiti, putting her Masters Degree to work leading a communications and photography team at the United Nations Migration Agency.

Finally, in 2020 the two separate lives of artist and humanitarian merged into one coherent soul business. Today Emily’s main focus is serving as CEO at The House of Ellechemy, a Tulum-based fashion house that merges her analytical left and creative right brain into a single project. At last! Ellechemy creates dresses that are each inspired by an ancient queen like Cleopatra or Lagertha the viking shield-maiden for modern women on the rise. The 12 Queens collection focuses on Emily’s strength in storytelling, photographing women who feel transformed into queens, while paying Mexican artisans high wages, and using ethically sourced fabric. This is the realm where I live with such joy that it sometimes seems impossible. But it’s real.

It’s within you too, I promise. Underneath the rusty blocks, it awaits.
