Hello - don’t know where you are reading this from in the world right my, dear one, but I do know one thing: when we look up at the moon it’s the same one.

Bilie Holiday sang, “I’ll be looking at the moon, but I’ll be seeing you.”

And there’s something so eternally comforting about the new moon. Today as I write it is mid-COVID experience time in Mexico. I’m the only member of my immediate family not in Canada, and I’m feeling extra grateful that we’ve got the new moon energy to connect us all through time and space.

I’m writing to you from Tulum, on Mexico’s sacred Mayan Land by the sea where I moved on March 1 2020 (story for another time perhaps!). Looking up at the moon has been increasingly linked to delicious rituals in my life that are both grounding and uplifting. I thought it would be sumptuous to invite you to join me to the party. and give you my playbook because then It feels like a virtual dinner party instead of playing in the magical kitchen alone. You are so welcome here. Ready to build your full sensory experience right there at home?

Why Bother With a New Moon Ritual?

Cuz it’s fun, hello! Seriously though, if you hang around my corner of Instagram or the internet in general, it may seem like everyone is into new-agey lifestyle of smudging, Tarot cards and alchemy. But who cares! What resonates as deeply mysterious, soul-calling discovery for you? That’s what counts.

Beyond the external noise, I find the study of the moon as it traverses the 12 astrological constellations can become an expansive, complex, and transformative experience. It’s personal and calming place of discovery to follow the path of your intuition as you create rituals right in your own space. It’s part of being a light-bringer, an artist and co-creator of more loving realities.

These rituals and sacred time-outs will take you one step deeper into your own magic simply by renewing your connection to the natural world and to your own divine, spirited nature. No underlying beliefs are required. Just an open heart and love of creating beauty. Let’s begin the fun, shall we?

What you can expect from the time of the new moon…

You can expect to feel a sense of mysterious inner peace and balance with this ritual, despite any struggles your body (and pain body) may be experiencing in this time of planetary rewiring.

It teaches us to find balance in all areas of our lives. Whatever is asking to be released is going to show up with a fierce voice. It’s the thing that creates disharmony in your life and makes you feel off-kilter even when times were normal. How wonderful to face it full-on now!

It is a great time to balance your personal requisites and the needs of people closest to your everyday life.

It’s an opportunity to avoid seeding any new conflict. You have enough old wounds and healing of hurts to pay attention to.

It’s an invitation for more gentleness and diplomacy with yourself. Let’s use Libra’s people pleasing tendencies for good,  turning the light beam inward and caring for your own sources of contention with gentle attention and affection.

You may experience a more than average need for self love. Use this time to find your inner peace through the tool of your senses. Taste, smell, touch, sight and… 6th sense of pure knowing, of intuition. Spend some extra time during this new moon on self care in all its forms.

As with all opportunities, it can appear as a challenge when not harnessed and bathed in the beautiful luminosity of your awareness. So let’s get aware, shed conscious light and enjoy a delicious ritual together!

AMANACER’S NEW MOON RITUAL

James Blake - Barefoot In The Park (feat. Rosalía) Listen: https://JamesBlake.lnk.to/BarefootITParkVD Follow James Blake: https://www.instagram.com/jamesblak...

Step 1: Put on the Youtube Playlist I made for you, on this new moon occasion! I’ll be playing it on repeat here in Tulum too.

Step 2: Build an Alter

  • Color: Pure White - white candles, white linen cloths (or pillowcases if you don’t have any!)

  • Textures - white linen, coupled with dark wood.

  • Crystal Friend: Opal

  • Flower Friend: PINK ROSE: She is here to offer divine guidance in the form of a playful and daringly joyful presence. The rose is a reminder of the strength that lies in living in full sensuality balanced with a steady heart. This strength is your birthright. Just like the ancient roses evoked by queens from the desert to the seas, you are sacred and worthy of infinite supply of love and radiance.

    • As a symbol of peace and love, roses perfectly compliment a human heart’s passion for justice and deeply embedded sense of right and wrong. This stems from a desire for love to guide all that is.

Add any white statues, pearly objects you adore, or opalescent rings. Altars are not indicative of a religion, they’re a power focal point. Have fun with it, get creative using whatever you have around.

  • Light those candles!

Step 3: Make a Sacred Oil Blend: 5 drops of Frankincense oil and 3 drops of Damascus rose (or any floral essential oil you have on hand) in 1 Tbsp of virgin olive oil.  No essential oils? Spray some perfume into the olive oil, it’s the remix!

Our Muse: Queen Esther - Biblical level sensual mama who bathed herself in sacred oils for 365 days before seducing the King of Persia and ascending from the harem to be his #1 Queen. The strength of frankincense’s woody grounding aroma balanced with the ethereal heights of the rose are carried in the smooth olive oil that connects us to ancient queens like Esther through time and space.

Step 4: Rub the sacred oil blend all over your body starting from your toes, going up up up in gentle swirling, circular motions. Spending extra time on your chest, and androgynous areas - laughing and enjoying your skin in playful recognition of the power of balanced inner and outer strength.

Step 5: with the music as loud as you enjoy, spend some time making a circle of 5- 25 candles or tea lights around your altar. This is the naval and the center of the world, the heart of the earth for the new moon-mood.

Step 6: Stand in the middle if you’re holding the ceremony solo. If you’re 2-3 (in person or on a Zoom call!) you can all face the West together...or as close as you can to where the sun sets.

A Prayer/Chant

Here in Tulum, I have been feeling blessed and privileged to learn ancient Mayan rituals for the past month. The Maya are alive and well- anything but extinct. This is part of one ritual “Opening the Four Directions” I felt called to transcribe and remix for you under this Libra super-moon.

Saying these words aloud is potent, because many times when we live on this planet we forget the unique frequency our heart has. We become estranged from the planet’s frequency and out of balance with ourselves, and our environment. So it’s important we reconnect to the source power grid, and to do this we reconnect with the earth.

Begin by standing up, and placing your hands open, stretched out at hip level – open to give and to receive. If it is possible, stand facing the direction of the west. This is the direction of the setting sun and rising stars, the direction of our ancestors, of women who gave birth to all men, all women, and the direction of our grandmothers from the stars.

It’s time to recite your name, affirm where you are and speak aloud the words of this guided ritual, holding as much love in your heart as you can without bursting:

“My name is __________. I am the daughter of _(mother’s name)____ and _(father’s name)____. I am here in ___(city)____, __(state)____, ___(country) in the  ___( indigenous or first nations i.e. Mayan or Mohawk) land.

I am here in the land standing on the sacred earth. I salute the heart of the earth. With great humility and reverence, I ask her to recognize my unique frequency, the frequency of my heart, so that I too may nourish the heart of the earth.”

Take three deep breaths here focusing on your heart and feeling the openness. Then to close, place both hands over your heart and say to her:

“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And so it is.  And so it is. And so it is. Ayibobo”

Freestyle

Would you like to add a request for protection or for comfort to your prayer? Do you feel called to add a blessing for yourself, or for ones you love? Remembering to cite them by their full names, speak words from the heart. There’s no right or wrong way to wish them well, you just  go ahead and freestyle, baby.

Remember to stay excited and energized! This is fun and the new moon is a powerful time to supercharge your requests. Enhance your belief that they are already coming true by allowing the feelings of excitement and gratitude to flood your body.

Spontaneous happy dances are a normal side effect as you rebalance, reconnect your heart and feel it flower like the pink roses we cherish (whether literally or in our memories of roses).

Possible Journal Prompts

Today I celebrate my heart’s infinite ability to forgive. I forgive my self for _____, and _____.

Today I celebrate my heart’s infinite ability to accept and transmute pain into beauty. I accept _____ and beginning to transmute ___ into ____ ____ with ease and grace.

Challenge

In the week ahead, your radiant challenge on this mission of love we call life - should you choose to accept it, is to present yourself to the earth and reconnect your unique heart frequency to the heart of the earth for seven days straight! Using the prayer, continue repeating the ritual words every morning for seven days at 7am. Set a reminder on your phone to help you remember to start your days this way. I’ll be doing this with you!

Ayibobo”
