Saturday June 3, 2017 I launched my first-ever solo show in my hometown of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was nerve-wracking until the friends, fellow-artists and complete strangers started to pour in.
Starting at twilight 50, 100, then 150 people filled the restaurant's garden, mosaic alcoves and art gallery. The talented singer Gina and her drummer showed up to add another level of atmosphere to the summer terrace space. I was blown away by the show of support, and all the red stickers that we placed on sold paintings throughout the night. You guys are amazing!
Thanks to my global family too, and everyone who took the time to send messages, and Facetime with me, and give other little boosts of courage that I needed to get in the zone. It seemed to work for real.
Here are a few snapshots of the vernissage at Yanvalou Cafe-Bar-Resto from Ticket Magazine's talented photographer Amazan.
